Just a very quick one this week, since I’m still at the office and it’s quarter past ten at night.
If you’re new here: Hi, I’m Scar, Founder & CEO here at Bohemiacademia. I do a whole bunch of things, including working from our Kensington office a couple of days a week.
The main news this week is that we’re welcoming a new client: the authors of The First Slap, a book about domestic violence. It tells the true story of one woman’s escape from an extremely violent marriage; and unlike most books of its kind, it doesn’t just give a first-hand account of her experience.
The First Slap was written in conjunction with two expert psychologists, both of whom provide professional insights throughout the book to give some extra nuance to the discussion. I have yet to read the book, so currently I’m promoting it as a concept rather than something I’ve read, but I can’t wait to get my hands on my copy! It should be winging its way over to the Bohemiacademia office very soon, and when it does, I’ll be sure to let you know what I thought.
My initial reaction to the idea was that I really liked the premise: something more than a memoir, but also more than a dry academic psychology text. It sounds like it’s right up my street, and I’m very happy that we get to work with the authors to promote the book on social media.
We only just took over the accounts today, so there’s not a lot on there yet, but please follow them to find out about upcoming news:
Of course, we’ve still been beavering away in the background for our other clients as well. Christa is currently jetting around North America representing one of our tech clients at a few industry events, while Jade is having meetings with some other clients and writing reviews of digital forensic products. I’m creating industry round-ups for them, editing articles, and managing their social media.
Meanwhile, over on the travel side, Liz has been working at breakneck speed recently, writing a whopping 14,000 words in a week for one of our international clients; Kathy has been keeping an eye on Pinterest; Louise, Kathy and Char have been working across all the Facebook groups; and Emma, Louise and I have been managing our clients’ Twitter accounts.
But there’s always room for more! Leave a comment below, or drop us a line to commission a project or get a quote.
