It’s due to hit 37 or 39°C this week in London, depending on which weather forecasting app you’re looking at. My brain tends to melt to sludge as soon as it goes over 30, which it already has today. It’s 33°C and I’m spending the day in the office, because it has air conditioning, and because my house has a big south-facing bay window, which practically turns it into a greenhouse in the summer months.
If you’re new here: Hi, I’m Scar, Founder & CEO here at Bohemiacademia. I do a whole bunch of things, including working from our Kensington office a couple of days a week.
Here’s what the team has been up to this week.
I was away for the latter half of the week, hanging out with friends in Somerset, which was very pleasant, although when I got back there was so much to do that I wished I hadn’t gone away. It wasn’t quite long enough for me to properly relax (four days), so I had all the stress of returning to a backlog, but without the relaxation of a proper holiday.
Never mind. Onwards and upwards.
In my absence, the team has been busy. Christa has been looking after things for one of our biggest clients, lining up podcasts and articles and webinars and interviews. She’s also planning to represent one of our clients at a couple of upcoming conferences, which is something we’re always happy to do.
Jade has been testing out some software for another client; she’ll be sending in her reviews soon. On the more general writing front, the team have been beavering away on topics from education to LGBTQIA+ life; and now that the end of the month is looming, our subject matter specialists are starting to send in their news round-ups for clients to post on their sites. This not only helps your audience to keep abreast of what’s happening; it also positions you as a vocal leader in the industry, and shows clients and competitors that you have your finger on the pulse.
Over on Facebook, Kathy and Louise have been making some changes to a few pages for a client, and between them have been managing a huge number of pages and groups. Kathy’s also been keeping on top of Pinterest for our clients; while Emma, Louise and I have been dealing with Instagram and LinkedIn.
I had a conversation with another prospective client early this week, which I’m hoping will turn into an interesting relationship – they work in an area I’m personally very passionate about, so it would mean a lot to me if we managed to land this project.
Alongside our paid work, I also do a bit of pro-bono work for my local foodbank here in Kensington & Chelsea. They’re currently desperately short of several items and they could really use your help; they accept supermarket deliveries as well if you’re not in the local area. Every little helps, as they say.
