I am writing this as quickly as I can, because I’m trying to leave the office by 8pm so I can go swimming on my way home. Working for yourself isn’t always straightforward and it doesn’t always mean you work shorter days. However, it usually does mean you get to pick your own hours. I work long days on Mondays and Thursdays, for example, so that I can fit other things in throughout the rest of the week.
How do you structure your time as a freelancer?
If you’re new here: Hi, I’m Scar, Founder & CEO here at Bohemiacademia. I do a whole bunch of things, including working from our Kensington office two days a week.
Here’s what the team has been up to this week.
I finally found a solution for HMRC’s awful Making Tax Digital VAT nightmare, and it is done now so I don’t need to worry about it for the next three months. That’s been the main thing I’ve been working on over the last few days, along with a few other business-related admin nightmares. I also put together a last-minute article for a client who needed a turnaround of just a couple of hours; and scheduled content on the websites and social media profiles of a few clients for the upcoming week.
Christa wrote an industry round-up for one of our tech clients, focusing on how AI is used in computer forensic investigations.
Garreth transcribed a webinar for a client and we uploaded the video clip to their YouTube channel and posted it on their site. Transcription helps to make your videos, podcasts and webinars more accessible, and it’s also better for SEO. Wins all round!
We secured a partnership between one of our clients and a related company, resulting in an article collaboration. (Yes, we can manage your partnerships too!)
On social media, Kathy and Louise have been womanning the fort over on Facebook, looking after more than 200 groups and pages between them. Emma’s been busy on Instagram and Twitter, as have Matt and Christa; and Kathy has single-handedly got Pinterest under control.
Our writers, social media managers, content creators and transcribers are busy as ever, but we’re always open to taking on new clients! Drop us a line to tell us about your project and get a quote.
